Education - Executing Strategy

We assisted a public research university to asses
the implementation of a new HCM system.

Client Situation

  • Our client is a public research university based in Melbourne and one of only six dual-sector universities in Australia, providing courses in both higher education and TAFE

  • In 2021, the university introduced a new Human Capital Management (HCM) and Student Management system with a vision of future operating cost reductions through productivity enhancements

  • After phase 1 of the new technology implementation, our client sought assistance to develop a Post-Implementation Review of the HCM System

Our Approach

  • To identify anticipated benefits of the new HCM system, we reviewed the business case, implementation plan, and phase I approach

  • Next, we interviewed key personnel including university staff, contractors, and consultants involved with the integrator partner

  • Concurrently, we assessed the business case benefits against Implementation Project Plan’s Phase I deliverables

  • Together, these insights formed a review of the phase I implementation

  • This led us to identify lessons learnt that could be applied to Phase II of the Implementation Project Plan

Outcome

  • We delivered an assessment of the HCM System business case benefits against Phase 1 deliverables

  • This led to the identification of lessons learnt for consideration prior to Phase 2

  • We then reviewed the proposed Phase 2 Plan to ensure lessons captured were effectively considered and incorporated
